About ORLT

The Oconee River Land Trust is a non-profit organization  in Athens, Georgia that partners with landowners and local governments to conserve natural forests and working lands along Georgia’s rivers, streams and wetlands. Since 1993, ORLT has worked with public and private landowners to protect 42,000 acres of land and 176 miles of rivers and streams.

We love connecting people to the outdoors, whether it's their first hike or their hundredth. Check out our events on this page for opportunities to hike trails, enjoy concerts, take a foraging workshop, and more!

February 22nd, 10:00am-12:00pm: Join us for a walk at ORLT's very first easement! This easement was donated to us by Walt Cook, who built Cook's Trail and many other walking trails around Athens. Walking this quiet forested trail is the perfect way to start your weekend. Bring friends and family!

March 26th, 7:00pm: Join us for our third Oconee River Belles Benefit Concert at the Foundry! The Alison Brown Quartet will be headlining this folk and bluegrass concert, with special guests in a variety show format. Tickets will go on sale soon at thefoundryathens.com. Our last two shows sold out, so don't wait--we can't wait to see you there!

March 28th, 10:00am-12:00pm: Join us for Forest Day! Kids will have the opportunity to interact with live insects and arachnids, decorate and take home plaster animal track molds, see how pollution affects their town with an enviroscape, touch fur and skull replicas of native animals, and see collections of moths and butterflies.

This event will be held at Tallassee Forest across from Burney-Harris Lyons Middle School.
